MARÍA (Y LOS DEMÁS) / María (and Everybody Else)
Seit ihre Mutter starb, als María gerade einmal fünfzehn Jahre alt war, kümmert sie sich um ihren Vater und ihre Geschwister. Für ihre Familie ist sie ein Fels in der Brandung – und María ist stolz, alles unter Kontrolle zu haben. So ist es wenig erstaunlich, dass eine Welt für sie zusammenbricht, als ihr Vater und dessen Pflegerin aus heiterem Himmel verlautbaren, heiraten zu wollen. Doch María lässt sich nicht beirren: Mit fünfunddreißig und offenbar unfähig, einen festen Partner zu finden, stellt sie sich neuen Herausforderungen und wagt den Sprung ins kalte Wasser, um ihr Leben noch einmal von Grund auf zu ändern.
NELY REGUERA, born in 1978, studied filmmaking at the Escuela Superior de Cine y Audiovisuales de Cataluña – ESCAC in Barcelona. She is the director of the documentary Muxía a ferida about the consequences of the Prestige oil catastrophe and the 2009 award-winning short film Pablo. Nely Reguera currently teaches at ESCAC.
