CAMBRIDGE

CAMBRIDGE

The Bulgarian village of Dolni Tsibar in northwestern Bulgaria – the poorest part of the European Union – is known as the “Roma Cambridge”. This is because its predominantly Roma population enjoys a relatively high level of education. Cambridge is a year in the life of the local elementary school, where dedicated teachers try to give the children the best possible education with limited resources.

ELDORA TRAYKOVA is an award-winning Bulgarian documentary filmmaker. She studied at the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts in Sofia. Her credits include more than 40 documentary films. Cambridge is her latest film. It premiered at the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam 2015. // Films (selection): Za horata i za mechkite (Of Men and Bears, 1996, doc), Rodeni s veka (Born with the Century, 2000), Park za tantzuvashti mechki (Dancing Bear Park, 2004, doc), Cambridge (2015, doc)
