THE ÉRPATAK MODEL

THE ÉRPATAK MODEL

Érpatak is a Hungarian village of 1,750 souls, whose mayor, a genuine provincial Ubu, introduced an “anti-liberal” social model focused on the “worship of order” in 2008. Benny Brunner directs a Persian Letter sent from Orban’s Hungary, coldly analyzing the apparatus of brutal populism, the potential future of European political aboulia.

BENNY BRUNNER has written, directed, and produced documentary films since the late 1980s. He makes political films that side with the dispossessed, unrepresented, and the “other”. Brunner’s films have been broadcast and screened internationally. People consider a number of his films to be subversive; Brunner sees it as a compliment. // Films (selection): The Seventh Mill ion (1995, doc), Al-Nakba (1997, doc), Blood Money (2001, doc), Kosher Friendly (2001, doc), It Is No Dream (2002, doc), The Érpatak Model (2014, doc)
