The First Generation — Memoirs Of Cambodia

The First Generation — Memoirs Of Cambodia

In the seventies and eighties, tens of thousands of people fled from the terror regime of the Red Khmer in Cambodia. Most settled down in the US, Canada, France, Australia or elsewhere, but a few hundred found a new home in Austria. In The First Generation five immigrants from Cambodia remember their impressions after arriving – a touching documentary feature about provenance, the feeling of belonging, and a hope for the future. „We want to show that people who had to leave their country because of war have many experiences and stories to share. It is an immense challenge to start from scratch far away from home.“ (Abraham Pol)
