The heart of the youth program is the format that offers the possibility to create your very own contributions to a specific predetermined topic in groups of six to eight youths.
What is particularly important to us is that groups are all mixed: according to age and gender, but also in respect to the previous experience with the medium video. The age range of the participants is between 15 and 20. The topic will combine two aspects: on the one hand, the motto of the festival that aims to connect Europe and break down boundaries, but also a topic that has a special significance for young people.
24 April, 4.00 pm: Meet & Greet, participants and mentors
25 to 30 April: in roughly 30 hours a video statement will be made starting from the treatment to postproduction
30 April, 2.00 to 4.00 pm: presentation and Q&A of the developed videos – hosted by the Young Programmers

YAAAS! Videoprojekt 2019
At the Crossing Europe Festival 2019, young people in three teams realized video contributions with the help of mentors. The theme was "The Blind Spot" or "Observing the Observer" and aimed to animate the participants to engage with the credibility of information that is gained in an observation process. The circumstance of personal perspective creates a certain incompleteness that can maybe be broken by looking at a second point of view and can allow conclusions about the observer at the same time. The young people were invited to break down this complex topic and create spontaneous, provocative and controversial statements. You can check out the results here:

Apply for the next YAAAS! Video Project, April 2020
Those who want to participate in 2020 should send in a video that was made in 2018/19 (as an individual, a group, or a school project) by January 7, 2020 to .
Our jury will select participants based on the applications and get in touch with you. For minor participants and for school projects a guardian is also invited to come.
YAAAS! - Application Conditions
Deadline: January 7, 2020
What must be included:a. your video via a link (see the box in the application form) or via wetransfer.com to: yaaas@crossingeurope.at
b. a few sentences about your person and why you like to make videos
Age: at the deadline you must be between 15 and 20 years of age
Form/content: the videos can be of all genres and formats, no longer than 15 min
Participants will receive a festival accreditation for the entire festival (which means that all events are free to attend), food and drink vouchers, participants from outside of Austria will recieve accomodation and transport in Austria.
