After the cancellation of the festival due to Covid-19, CROSSING EUROPE will start up again in September with Crossing Europe EXTRACTS. With a series of physical film events, and despite the current restrictions and Corona regulations in the cinemas, the collective cinema experience and the interaction with filmmakers should stand at the center of the third part of Crossing Europe EXTRACTS. “Festival atmosphere in stages!” is the leitmotif of the large autumn program that will take place in September in Linz, Vienna, Salzburg, Innsbruck, and Ebensee. New circumstances demand new formats in order to be able to provide audiences with the atmosphere of the festival without neglecting any of the hygiene and distancing regulations that are needed at this point in time. Over the course of four months Crossing Europe EXTRACTS will show around 100 feature films and documentaries from the program of the canceled festival, including a number of premieres thus creating the atmosphere of the Crossing Europe festival, albeit with a slight delay.
EXTRACTS: Autumn 2020 – Overview
10 to 13 September | Moviemento
On the occasion of her 80th birthday, Crossing Europe is dedicating this year’s tribute to VALIE EXPORT, one of the most important representatives of international media, film, and performance art, within the framework of the Ars Electronica 2020. From 10 to 13 September the multi-layered cinematographic oeuvre of the artist born in Linz will be the focus with selected feature films and short films.
From 15 September to 22 December Crossing Europe presents current film premieres from the canceled festival edition every Tuesday at the City-Kino in Linz. Fifteen current feature films and documentaries give the audience the possibility to embark on a cinephile journey all across Europe, supplemented with introductions, Q&As, and video messages from the filmmakers.
Please note: Originally scheduled until the end of December, the second Lockdown in Austria unfortunately put an end to the "Festival Premieres at City-Kino" a little earlier than planned. The canceled film screenings can unfortunately not be rescheduled for organizational reasons.
