YAAAS! Youth Program 2021

Preliminary note to YAAAS! 2021: The Covid-19 pandemic poses great challenges to all of us. The festival planning for CROSSING EUROPE 2021, which also includes the YAAAS! Youth Program, already now includes the consideration of possible eventualities. It goes without saying that all parts of the program and planned festival activities are to be in compliance with all regulations for the containment of Covid-19 valid at the time.

YAAAS! What is it?

YAAAS! is the title of the youth program of the Crossing Europe Film Festival in Linz. YAAAS! invites you to take a whiff of the festival air together with other youths.

YAAAS! School Screenings

Three feature films from the competition section YAAAS! Competition will be offered as school screenings this year, organizationally adapted to the applicable Covid-19 event guidelines.

Our YAAAS! Young Programmers 2021 all attend the HBLA for Artistic Design in Linz and selected six titles for the program strand YAAAS! Competition.

The YAAAS! Competition is the fourth competition section of the festival and comprises six European feature films. The CROSSING EUROPE Award - YAAAS! Youth Jury is endowed with € 3.000,- powered by VdFS.

At the YAAAS! Workshop Rally you have the chance to immerse yourself in various fields (e.g. camera, animation, sound, directing) over the course of one day.

YAAAS! Close-Up

In cooperation with YOUKI International Youth Media Festival we invite two young filmmakers to show their debut videos in comparison with current works and to discuss all aspects of their work in the field of film in an open discussion format.

YAAAS! Video Project

The Video Project opens up the world of film and video production in a practical module over multiple days. This year, four teams from schools in Linz have the opportunity to create their own videos with professional support.

These five youths will watch the six selected films for the YAAAS! Competition and will select the winner of the CROSSING EUROPE AWARD – YAAAS! Youth Jury (€ 3.000,- powered by VdFS).

YAAAS! is part of the YOUTH CINEMA NETWORK (YCN) and your direct link to befriended European youth film festivals.

At YAAAS! Face2Face you will be able to meet international professionals in small groups and riddle them with questions. Unfortunately, Face2Face 2021 cannot take place due to security measurements made necessary by Covid-19.
