Das Band zwischen Tochter und Mutter als symbiotisches Kontrollinstrument. Anna (Jil Krammer) und Charlotte (Susanne Wolff) befinden sich stets im Orbit ihrer Mutter Ines (Hildegard Schmahl), buhlen um deren Gunst und tolerieren Beleidigungen über Gewicht und Aussehen. Spitze Hiebe werden zur Charakterbildung eingesetzt, anachronistische Fantasiesequenzen und ein rot getünchter Tunnel, der sich wie ein Geburtskanal durch das Haus schlängelt, malen das Bild einer dysfunktionalen Familieneinheit. Will they come to terms with each other? Dutch filmmaker Rosanne Pel crafts a haunting, darkly humorous portrait of family ties that both wound and bind. As Anna and Charlotte navigate buried memories and confront the impossible task of reconciling the past, DONKEY DAYS becomes what the director calls “a fractured female triangle in meltdown”.
