Präsentation: Bischofstrasse, Linz

Zu Beginn dieses Dokumentarfilms wird Linz als reizende oberösterreichische Landeshauptstadt vorgestellt, wobei das kulturelle und gesellschaftliche Leben der Stadt im Vordergrund steht. Der erste Eindruck, dass es sich hier um einen Werbefilm für Touristen handelt, löst sich allerdings schnell auf, als der Regisseur und Produzent die ZuschauerInnen in die Bischofstraße 7 führt. Wie schon sein Vater und sein Großvater wurde auch Micha Shagrir 1937 hier geboren. In derselben Straße im Haus Nummer 1 wohnte die Familie Adolf Eichmanns. Durch Interviews mit heutigen und früheren EinwohnerInnen dieser Straße und dieser Stadt präsentiert der Dokumentarfilm die Ironie und die Schicksalswendungen der Geschichte als Beziehungen zwischen Menschen, die in enger Nachbarschaft wohnten. Einige wurden gegen Ende des 20. Jahrhunderts geboren, andere erinnern sich noch an die Zeiten von "Zuckerl-Schwager", der Zuckerlfabrik, die der Familie des Regisseurs gehörte.

A documentary introducing the past and the present of the charming Upper Austrian capital Linz, while showcasing its cultural and social life. The first impression of another - tourist-catching - film fades fast as the director and producer himself leads the audience to Bischofstraße. Micha Shagrir was born in 1937 in Bischofstraße 7, as his father and grandfather before him, and in the same street at number 1, lived the family of Adolf Eichmann. The documentary presents history's irony and twists of fate as the relations between those who lived in proximity to each other through interviews with present and former residents of the street and the town, some of them born towards the end of the 20th century and some of them who even remember the times of "Zuckerl Schwager", the candy factory of the director's family
