Pitkin tietä pieni lapsi

Zwei Gruppen von Kindern, die eine aus Finnland, die andere aus Somalia, verbringen am Stadtrand von Helsinki ihre Freizeit gemeinsam mit dem Bau einer kleinen Hütte im Wald. Die Kamera heftet sich ihnen förmlich an die Fersen, ist ständig in Bewegung, so als ob sie nur ja nichts versäumen wollte. Dazwischen: Gräser, Äste, Blüten. Eine Studie eines Mikrokosmos und darüber, wie Grenzen ihre Gültigkeit verlieren. Kleine Streitereien über Gott und Allah sind im nächsten Moment schon wieder vergessen, wenn es darum geht, wer die größeren Schachteln in den Wald schleppt. Wie in allen Arbeiten von Helke und Suutari ist es auch hier nicht die Thematik, die den Film bestimmt, sondern die Erfahrbarkeit von Zeit: Wichtig ist es, die Stunden der Wahrheit zu erfassen – Momente die uns alle ein Leben lang begleiten. Two groups of children, one group from Finland, the other from Somalia, spend their free time together building a little hut in a forest at the edge of Helsinki. The camera virtually breathes down their necks, constantly moving as though it were afraid to miss the slightest detail. In between: grass, branches, blossoms. A study of a microcosm and how boundaries lose their validity. Little arguments about God and Allah are forgotten in the next moment, when the question is who will drag the bigger boxes into the forest. As in all of Helke and Suutari‘s works, it is not the theme that defines the film here, but how time can be experienced: what is important is grasping the moments of truth – moments that accompany us throughout our whole lives.
