Momentaufnahme eines beliebigen Mittelklassehotels in Zagreb: Laken werden glatt gezogen, Kissen und Decken frisch bezogen, das W-LAN-Kabel an den richtigen Platz in der Schublade gelegt, der letzte Staub von Armaturen gewischt. Keine skandalträchtige Ausbeutung wartet hier auf Aufklärung; Sviličić fängt vielmehr diese alltägliche, unspektakuläre Müdigkeit ein, von der monotone, körperlich beanspruchende Arbeitsabläufe begleitet werden. Fast klaustrophobisch ist der Blick, den sie in diesen durch strenge Hierarchien strukturierten Mikrokosmos wirft. Ein lakonisches Portrait vom glanzlosen Arbeitsleben der Hotelreinigungskraft. Snapshots of a random middle-class hotel in Zagreb: sheets are smoothed, pillows and covers freshly made up, the WI-FI cable placed in the right drawer, the last traces of dust wiped from the fixtures. There is no scandalous exploitation waiting to be uncovered here. Instead Sviličić captures the ordinary, unspectacular fatigue that accompanies monotonous, physically strenuous tasks. She takes an almost claustrophobic look at this microcosm structured by rigid hierarchies. A laconic portrait of the dull working life of hotel cleaning staff. (Lina Dinkla)
Regie Biografie
Vanja Sviličić, geb. 1974 in Zagreb, Kroatien, ist unabhängige Filmemacherin. Sie studierte an der Kunstuniversität Zagreb im Bereich Textildesign und ist mit ihren Fotoarbeiten international auf Ausstellungen und Kunstmessen vertreten. Sviličić arbeitete als Kamerafrau mit Regisseuren wie Vatroslav Mimica und Stephen Daldry. Jesam li sretna? erhielt eine Special Mention am ZagrebDox Film Festival.
