You Instead

Regisseur David Mackenzie drehte seinen bisher siebten Langfilm während des Musikfestivals „T in the Park“ in Schottland. Seine Protagonisten – Adam, ein arroganter Indie-Star und Morello, punkige Bandleaderin – sind nicht gerade die besten Freunde. Eigentlich betrachten sich die beiden Musiker sogar als Feinde und würden den anderen am liebsten kilometerweit entfernt wissen. Doch auf dem Musikfestival, bei dem die zwei mit ihren jeweiligen Bands auftreten sollen, werden sie für 24 Stunden mit Handschellen aneinander gefesselt. Aus Frustration wird widerwillige Akzeptanz und langsam entstehen sogar echte Gefühle.

Shot on location at the world famous music festival “T in the Park”: American pop star Adam and minor British rock chick Morello are playing at the same venue. The only other thing they have in common is their mastery of sarcastic wisecracks. As their childish spat escalates, a mischievous preacher handcuffs them together as punishment before disappearing into the crowd with the only key. All attempts to break free are thwarted. Respective band mates and romantic partners are caught in the crossfire but can only look on as Adam and Morello begin to realise there is no escape. 24 hours of mayhem and festival revelry ensues but when the cuffs are off and the dust has settled, their lives may never be the same again.

Regie Biografie

David Mackenzie, born 1966 in Scotland. After completing nine shorts and a documentary, his first feature was THE LAST GREAT WILDERNESS (2002). He gained first international attention with YOUNG ADAM (2003), which won the Best New British Feature award at the 2003 Edinburgh International Film Festival, and David won British Newcomer of the Year from the 2004 London Critics Circle Film Awards.
