History and the Open

Philosophische Positionen zur Frage, was Mensch und Tier voneinander unterscheidet, sind Ausgangspunkt für einen filmischen Diskurs, in dem Ziegen als Projektionsfläche und als DarstellerInnen fungieren. Nietzsches Historienschrift sowie Texte von Montaigne, Descartes und Agamben kommen dabei zur Sprache. Bodo Hell, Literat und Hirte auf der Grafenberger Alm, vergleicht Textfläche und Weidefläche und ist den rätselhaften Ziegen auf der Spur in ihrem offenen Raum des „niemals Nirgends ohne Nicht“.

Philosophical positions on the question of what differentiates human beings and animals constitute the starting point for a cinematic discourse, in which goats serve both as a projection surface and as “actors”. Among the topics of discussion are Nietzsche’s writings on history, and texts by Montaigne, Descartes and Agamben. Bodo Hell, literary author and herdsman on the Grafenberger Alm, draws comparisons between the field of the text and the field of pasture, and follows in the tracks of the enigmatic goats in their open space of the “never nowhere without not”.
