Der zehnjährige Nicolas lebt mit seiner Mutter auf einer abgeschiedenen Insel. Hier gibt es keine Männer, keine Mädchen – ausschließlich Frauen, deren Söhne in einem Krankenhaus über dem Meer seltsame Behandlungen über sich ergehen lassen müssen. Keiner fragt, warum. Keiner, außer Nicolas. Als er nachzuforschen beginnt, merkt er, dass auch seine Mutter nicht ganz ehrlich mit ihm ist, ihn schlicht anlügt. Er beschließt, herauszufinden, was sie und die anderen Frauen nachts am Strand treiben. Was er dort jedoch entdeckt, stößt Entwicklungen an, in deren Albtraumhaftigkeit er mehr und mehr hineingerät. Völlig unverhofft findet Nicolas in der jungen Krankenschwester Stella dann eine Verbündete.
10-year-old Nicolas lives with his mother on a remote island, in a village inhabited solely by women and young boys. In a hospital overlooking the ocean, all the boys are subjected to a strange medical treatment. Only Nicolas questions what is happening around him. He senses that his mother is lying to him, and is determined to find out what she does with the other women at night, on the beach. What he discovers is the beginning of a nightmare into which he is helplessly drawn. But in Stella, a young nurse at the hospital, Nicolas finds an unexpected ally.
Regie Biografie
LUCILE HADŽIHALILOVIĆ grew up in Morocco and studied in Paris. She is the cofounder of the production company Les Cinémas de la Zone. As a cinematographer, Hadžihalilović has collaborated with the distinguished director Gaspar Noé.
