Baden Baden

Ana, 26, arbeitet bei einer großen belgischen Filmproduktion. Und sie hasst ihren Job. Kurzerhand entschließt sie sich, alles hinter sich zu lassen, kündigt ihre Tätigkeit als Hilfskraft und bricht nach Straßburg auf. Oder besser gesagt, sie kehrt dorthin zurück. Denn immerhin ist Ana dort aufgewachsen. Nach ihrer Ankunft verschreibt sie sich der mehr oder weniger verantwortungsvollen Aufgabe, das Bad ihrer Großmutter umzubauen. Eine ebenerdig begehbare Dusche ist schließlich wesentlich altersgerechter als die bisherige. Einen Sommer lang hat Ana wieder eine Beschäftigung, eine Mission. Und kurzzeitig blüht sogar eine alte Liebesaffäre wieder auf. Ana tut ihr Bestes, das Leben in all seiner Umständlichkeit anzunehmen und vor allem: einfach zu leben.

When Ana, 26 years old, finishes a job she hates as runner on a big film shoot in Belgium, she makes an impulse decision and heads to Strasbourg, the town she grew up in. Once there, she gives herself a mission; to replace her grandmother’s bath with a floor level shower, better adapted to someone her age. Over the course of a summer, during which a broken love affair briefly blossoms again, Ana does her best to cope with life.

RACHEL LANG was born in Strasbourg, France. Her graduation film For You I Will Fight received the Silver Leopard at the Locarno International Film Festival and is the first part of a triology. Lang’s subsequent film, White Turnips Make It Hard to Sleep, is the second part.
