Double Aliens

Ein Roadtrip an die östliche Grenze Europas: Die georgische Fotografin Daro Sulakauri und der lettische Regisseur Uģis Olte besuchen die Region Samzche-Dschawachetien im Süden von Georgien. Die Bevölkerung hier ist mehrheitlich armenisch. Gefangen zwischen den Grenzen und Ethnien, fühlt sich keiner so recht mit dem Ort verbunden. A road trip to the eastern borders of Europe: The Georgian photographer Daro Sulakauri and Latvian film director Uģis Olte visit the Samtskhe- Javakheti region in the south of Georgia, with a mostly Armenian population. Caught between borders and ethnicities, no one here has deep roots in this place. For everyone living here, the notion of “homeland” will always be under debate. (Dominik Tschütscher)

Regie Biografie

UĢIS OLTE, born in 1981, studied mass communication at the University of Latvia in Riga. After years of developing original television formats and making ads, music videos, and short films, Double Aliens is his first documentary feature. He is currently preparing his first fiction feature.
