Mit ihrem Mann und zwei Kindern lebt Lidia ein einfaches Leben auf dem Land. Sie züchtet Tauben. Dagegen ist Denisa wesentlich selbstbewusster. Sie will ihrem Freund ein neues Paar Turnschuhe kaufen. Obwohl er auf ihre Kosten lebt, wohlgemerkt. Indes träumt die junge Vanesa davon, den perfekten Mann zu finden. Grüne Augen soll er haben. Drei unterschiedliche Frauen, die sich ihren Arbeitsplatz unter einer Autobahnbrücke in Rumänien teilen. Drei Frauen, deren Habitus dem einer Sekretärin gleichkommt – sie plaudern, trinken Kaffee und tauschen sich über die Banalitäten des Alltags aus. Ein ganz normales Leben also. Einzig: Lidia, Denisa und Vanesa müssen sich prostituieren.
Lidia grows pigeons and lives a mundane existence with a husband and two children. Denisa, the feistiest of the three, wants to buy her freeloading boyfriend a new pair of sneakers. Vanesa, the youngest, dreams of finding the perfect guy with green eyes. All three share a workplace as sex workers under a bridge on the highway connecting Bucharest to the next city. Their relationship is strained by competition for clients and territory. In spite of their rivalry, the three women spawn stories about their hardships and their loves, because the threats coming from outside of their circle are much stronger than the ones within.
Director's Biography
ALEXANDRA BALTEANU, born in 1982, is a Romanian filmmaker from Craiova. After a year at the National University of Theatre and Film in Bucharest and shooting a short documentary in Romania, she resumed her studies at the DFFB – German Film and Television Academy Berlin in 2010. Balteanu currently lives and works in Germany. Prowl is her first feature film. // Films (selection): Vânătoare (Prowl, 2016)
