Wo und mit wem fühlen wir uns zu Hause? An wen wenden wir uns, wenn wir nirgendwohin zurückkehren können? Home erzählt die wahre Geschichte des siebzehnjährigen Kevin, der aus dem Jugendgefängnis entlassen und nicht wieder bei seinen Eltern aufgenommen wird. Bei seiner Tante findet er Herberge, freundet sich dort mit seinem Cousin Sammy an, über den er wiederum John kennenlernt. Eine enge Freundschaft nimmt ihren Anfang und wird sogleich auf die Probe gestellt: Kevin merkt, dass Johns häusliche Situation untragbar wird und versucht, zu helfen. Eine aus dem Leben gegriffene Parabel auf die Eltern-Kind-Beziehung, deren greifbarere Spannung nicht zuletzt aus dem nahtlos passenden Soundtrack erwächst.
Home focuses on a group of youngsters and the adults that surround them. Both find it difficult to communicate and to understand each other’s closed-off world. Into this community of two struggling generations arrives seventeenyear-old Kevin. He goes to live with his aunt and his cousin Sammy, where he starts an apprenticeship as a plumber. Once in his new home, things are a little awkward at first, but Kevin does his best to be polite and nice. He establishes a bond with his aunt and Sammy. Through Sammy’s circle of friends Kevin gets to know John. As we discover that John’s situation at home becomes unbearable, Kevin feels the urge to help his new friend …
Director's Biography
FIEN TROCH, born in 1978, is a Belgian filmmaker and actress. She graduated from the LUCA – School of Arts in Brussels. Troch acted in the Patricia Mazuy’s feature SaintCyr, made several short films and a number of television commercials. Her feature film debut, Someone Else’s Happiness, won multiple awards at the Thessaloniki International Film Festival.
