Ola ist 17 und lebt mit ihrer Mutter und ihrem beeinträchtigten Bruder Pawel in einer trostlosen Gegend in Polen. Sie führt ein Leben zwischen Zigarettenrauch, Geldsorgen und Perspektivlosigkeit, musste schnell erwachsen werden und lernte ihren Vater nie kennen. Letzteres ändert sich, als dieser bei einem Arbeitsunfall im Ausland ums Leben kommt. Um die Todesurkunde zu holen und den Leichnam zu überführen, fliegt sie nach Irland – ganz auf sich allein gestellt.
