Hausfrau, Mutter, Ehefrau. Mare ist geübt in der klassischen, klischeebehafteten und – wie man hoffen möchte – veralteten Frauenrolle. Dass sie sich darin nicht wohl fühlt und nach mehr Unabhängigkeit und Autonomie sehnt, ignoriert ihr Mann gekonnt. Während er als Security-Mitarbeiter am Flughafen von Dubrovnik Flugzeugen beim Starten zusieht, hebt Mare insgeheim emotional ab: Sie erlebt sexuelle Höhenflüge mit einem jungen Unbekannten. Ein bodenständiger, physischer, auf Super 16mm gedrehter Film, der das Wesentliche nicht mit Worten erzählt, sondern die Bilder für sich sprechen lässt. (Ines Ingerle)
Mare needs a new bra and the washing machine needs replacing too. She manages her small family’s household with practised commitment on a shoestring budget. But when a nameless newcomer shows up in town, it transpires that material desires are not the only things that motivate Mare. In this, her third collaboration with leading actress Marija Škaričić, Andrea Štaka delivers a direct and very physical film. There is no time for sweet nothings in a daily round determined by necessities, and there is no need, for now, to justify the impulsiveness with which Mare decides to enjoy her rekindled libido. Regie Biografie
Born in Lucerne, Switzerland, in 1973, Andrea Štaka studied film at the Zurich University of the Arts. Her debut feature film, DAS FRÄULEIN, won the Golden Leopard at the Locarno Film Festival and the Heart of Sarajevo at the Sarajevo Film Festival while CURE – THE LIFE OF ANOTHER won an award at the film festival Max Ophüls Prize.
