Die Waorani im Amazonas kämpfen gegen die Zerstörung des Regenwaldes; die Dhuka, die als Nomaden in der Mongolei leben, sind aufgrund des ausbleibenden Schnees in ihrer Existenz bedroht; die Himba in Namibia drohen durch die Errichtung eines Staudammes ihr kulturelles Erbe zu verlieren, während eine Jahrhundertdürre ihre Existenz gefährdet. Natalie Hallas Dokumentarfilm verweist mittels ruhiger, atmosphärischer Bilder auf die vielen hässlichen Gesichter des Klimawandels und macht dabei deutlich, was wir durch die Zerstörung unserer Erde anrichten. A very personal cinematic journey to four indigenous peoples and their shamans unexpectedly turns into an exciting testimony to the struggle for survival of these unique nomad cultures, whose physical and cultural survival is existentially threatened by climate change. To give these people a voice and tell about their destiny, the director Natalie Halla has travelled to the most remote places in the world and spent time with the Waorani Indians in Ecuador, the sea nomads in Malaysia, the Himba in Namibia and the reindeer nomads in Mongolia.
Regie Biografie
Natalie Halla (*1975, Linz) studied law and translation and learned the tools for documentary filmmaking as an autodidact.
