The Fixer
Fixeur erzählt die Geschichte des ambitionierten Jungjournalisten Radu. Als zwei minderjährige Prostituierte nach Rumänien rückgeführt werden, wird Radu von einem französischen TV-Team als Kontaktmann vor Ort – als Fixer – engagiert. Die Recherchen beginnen, immer mehr Details rund um einen weitverästelten internationalen Sexhandelsring fördert er an die Oberfläche. Bald jedoch muss sich Radu eingestehen, dass auch er die beiden Mädchen bloß ausnutzt: Die Suche nach einer guten Geschichte entpuppt sich mehr und mehr als moralische Zwickmühle denn als berufliche Chance.
Radu is a simple trainee journalist, but an international scandal involving an underage prostitute seems to be the chance for him to prove his value. He is ready to overcome each obstacle and deliver a good story. However, the task turns out to be trickier than expected and the more he approaches his goal, the more he gets close to some moral limits. Adrian Sitaru’s The Fixer features the now-classic elements of New Romanian Cinema: It eventually arrives at an emotionally potent treatment of larger issues via a seemingly casual narrative, a coolly observational tenor and close attention to unexpected detail. Director's Biography
ADRIAN SITARU, born in 1971, is a Romanian director, producer, and actor. He is the author of several critically acclaimed short films. Sitaru’s first feature film, Hooked, has been screened at notable international festivals.
