100% Dakar - More Than Art
100% DAKAR is a portrait of the young, urban art and culture scene in the capital of Senegal. The film accompanies us through a city that is distinguished, apart from its economic and political problems, by tremendous creative energy that is hardly to be found in Europe. The film focuses on the passion and strength of young artists and cultural producers as the “cultural warriors” of their generation. Featuring Selly Raby Kane, Baay Sooley, Didier Awadi, Bboy Ben-J, PPS The Writah, Moona, Madzoo and many more.
Director's Biography
Sandra Krampelhuber, geboren in Linz, studierte Sozial- und Kulturanthropologie. 2006 entstand ihr erster Dokumentarfilm QUEENS OF SOUND über Frauen in der jamaikanischen Reggae- und Dancehall-Szene, der auf internationalen Filmfestivals gezeigt wurde; unter anderem bei CROSSING EUROPE. Reisen nach Dakar, Senegal, und die Demokratische Republik Kongo folgten, immer mit dem Fokus auf die Musik-, Kunst- und Kulturproduktion der jeweiligen Länder. 100% DAKAR – MORE THAN ART ist ihr zweiter Dokumentarfilm.
