YAAAS! Youth Program 2025
YAAAS! is the Youth Program of Crossing Europe Film Festival Linz and invites young people to immerse themselves in the festival experience together with others from 29 April to 4 May 2025.
Saying "YAAAS!" means euphorically saying "Yes!" to a program section that brings recent, young and unconventional European filmmaking to the big screen, invites young people to actively take part and offers spaces for low-threshold exchange. It was launched in 2019 and is designed to complement media lessons at secondary school level in order to teach media competency with a holistic range of film education and DIY video production. In 2024, the YAAAS! Youth Program registered around 800 participants.
The film program of YAAAS!, the YAAAS! Competition, is curated by the Young Programmers and the winning film is selected by the YAAAS! Youth Jury. In addition to the YAAAS! Competition, YAAAS! offers a range of events and activities, such as the Video Project, Face2Face and Close-Up, where participants (aged 15 to 20) can explore the broad spectrum of the film sector and realize their own cinematic ideas.
On the Crossing Europe YouTube channel, numerous results of the video projects of recent years as well as the YAAAS! teasers produced by students of the HBLA für künstlerische Gestaltung and HTL1 Bau und Design. Further information and impressions of YAAAS! can be found on Instagram and flickr.
