Maïté is married to Vincent, who has just been sentenced to seven years
in jail. Their relationship is based on two weekly encounters in the prison‘s visiting booth, the only place where they can
rebuild an intimacy which inevitably differs from the standards of ordinary life. I wanted to write very short and simple
scenes, in which silence would often be more meaningful than words. I filmed gestures, postures, glances, smiles, faces that
lie to avoid sinking. I wanted these images to be the physical, sensual and emotional traces of an impossible dialogue. For
my characters are not intended to be related to psychology or commentary. They go through ordeals and try to make the best
of their situation, however difficult it might be. (Jean-Pascal Hattu)
