Circus Debere Berhan

The film portrays an Ethiopian circus in front of an unusual backdrop. Taken out of urban surroundings and set in a raw, partly forested highland, a fascinating performance of artistic numbers unfolds. The camera remains static and distanced, while the skills of the artists are highlighted by traditional music. (Kristina Tieke)
