The Strange Woman - Winter Journey to Flossenbürg

The Strange Woman – Winter Journey to Flossenbürg is a documentary about a family of four generations in Flossenbürg, a village in Upper Palatinate in Bavaria. The film shows in quiet observations the lives of the village residents and the coexistence of housewife and mother Kerstin and her daughter Lena. The past and dealing with it point to the future. The film tells the story of mania and depression, empathy and obedience, of marriage, loneliness and love.

Director's Biography
BETTINA BÜTTNER was born in 1983 in Germany. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg and at the University of Arts and Design in Karlsruhe. Her documentary Kids was screened and awarded at numerous international film festivals. In 2012, Büttner assisted filmmaker Thomas Heise in making the documentary Consequences.
