The cooperation between the Crossing Europe Film Festival Linz with Linz 2009 – European Capital of Culture has made a new trailer production for 2008 possible. The commission was awarded to the renowned film artist, painter, photographer and professor at the Art University Linz, Dietmar Brehm. A black fly; red flashes; liquid dripping into a tin tub; a high-pitched drone. Dietmar Brehm configures these elements into a cinematographic primal scene at the intersection of reality, pulp and dream. (Markus Zeindlinger)
Director's Biography
Dietmar Brehm, geb. 1947 in Linz. 1967-72 Studium der Malerei an der Kunstschule Linz. Professor an der Kunstuniversität Linz. Zeichnen und Malen, Experimentalfilme und Fotografie. Zahlreiche Filmvorführungen und Ausstellungen im In- und Ausland. Auszeichnungen: Förderungspreis für Filmkunst (1986), ”Grand Prix des toutes categories” beim 11. Film/Video-Festival Brüssel (1989), Kulturpreis des Landes Oberösterreich für Experimentalfilm (1990), Arco Madrid 1992 (2.Preis), BMUK Würdigungspreis für Filmkunst (1993) u.v.a. 1974-1989 74 Super8-Filme, seit 1990 16mm Filme, seit 2000 Video.
