La Limita De Jos A Cerului
Nineteen-year-old Viorel lives with his mother in a remote Moldovan town. He has no great ambitions nor any illusions about life. He and his pal Goos earn a little cash through illegal activities, and Viorel is helping him fulfill his dream of flying. His mother tries to convince him to find a decent job. Eventually, Viorel begins taking control of his life. In his authentic, socially conscious debut, director Igor Cobileanski captures the dead-end situation the young generation finds itself in – growing up in a place lacking prospects for a better life.
Igor Cobileanski, born 1974 in Comrat, Moldova, graduated in film and television directing from the Film and Theater University in Bucharest. He has created several short documentaries, including MURIND PENTRU MADRID (1999), LEGENDELE TIPOVEI (1999), and RĂSĂRITUL BĂLŢILOR (1999), and a number of short dramas including CÂND SE STINGE LUMINA (2005) and (PLICTIS) ŞI INSPIRAŢIE (2007). In 2008 he directed the feature-length TV film TACHE. LA LIMITA DE JOS A CERULUI (The Unsaved, 2013) is his feature film debut. It won the FIPRESCI award at the Film Festival in Cottbus in 2013.
