Life Is not a Competition, but I'm Winning

In hardly any other area of society is the binary gender system so upheld as in sport. But where and, above all, how do queer people find their place in this world? In this historically insightful and at the same time utopian documentary, this topic is illuminated. And it does so in an extraordinarily artistic, hybrid form. We accompany a trans* marathon runner from Bavaria, and an 800-metre runner from Uganda. Both are confronted with the restrictive gender concepts of sport and try to free themselves. Munich-based filmmaker Julia Fuhr Mann shows how to make great films in the 21st century – mostly with female and queer people in front of and behind the camera, with a queer-feminist and empathetic view throughout.
