Being aware of one’s own standpoint is absolutely necessary, if one wants to grasp processes without prejudice or distortion. Using burning matches, two examples illustrate that different perspectives can crucially influence the perception of a process. Nervously distorted, obtrusive sounds substitute for the authority of the invisible flames.
