Vista Mare

Sometimes reality can seem surreal. This documentary takes you to an artificial world, constructed to entertain lazy holidaymakers. The film provides a close-up view of an Italian holiday paradise, filled with good food, water slides, dolphin shows, and beach aerobics. Behind the scenes, a host of employees work tirelessly to maintain the idyllic facade. This is a stylish and intriguing study of a well-oiled holiday machine and everything it takes to keep the wheels turning. It presents an industry that we all have a relationship with, but perhaps don't reflect on much. With a poetic eye, the film uses static shots to observe a thoroughly commercial tourist industry that almost reaches absurd dimensions. A holiday in the sun will never be quite the same after you've seen this film. (Kosmorama Trondheim International Film Festival)
