Influenced as much by Direct Cinema as by the investigative documentaries of Nick Broomfield or Michael Moore, Martin Mareček‘s grimly sarcastic film shows how political autocracy, multinational corporate politics and decades of depletion have poisoned nature in the region of Baku on the Caspian Sea and destroyed the social milieu of the workers and small farmers. As committed film-NGOs the filmmakers demonstrate their solidarity with the sufferers, in turn raising uncomfortable questions as recalcitrant reporters in corporate meetings and the offices of dubious officials.
