Tour d’Europe: Swiss Films on an European Journey
01.04.2024 // This year, the promotion agency SWISS FILMS is partnering with selected European film festivals to present films and coproductions from Switzerland that have been nominated for or have won a European Film Award. The occasion for this "Tour d'Europe" is the 2024 ceremony of the European Film Awards, which will take place in Lucerne in December.
Crossing Europe 2024 will show a hand-picked selection of works from Switzerland whose directors have already been represented with films in the festival program in previous years: The Swiss-Georgian co-production SHASHVI SHASHVI MAQ'VALI (AMSEL IM BROMBEERSTRAUCH) by Elene Naveriani (I AM TRULY A DROP OF SUN ON EARTH; CE17) was shortlisted as a European Feature Film 2023, with lead actress Eka Chavleishvili receiving a nomination as European Actress.
Also nominated for Best European Film in 2018 was the Italian-French-Swiss coproduction LAZZARO FELICE (GLÜCKLICH WIE LAZZARO) by Alice Rohrwacher (CORPO CELESTE; CE12).
THE SOUND OF INSECTS - RECORD OF A MUMMY by the late Swiss director and Crossing Europe award winner Peter Liechti (a.o. VATERS GARTEN - DIE LIEBE MEINER ELTERN / FATHER'S GARDEN - THE LOVE OF MY PARENTS; CE13 – FEDEORA AWARD for European Documentaries), won the European Documentary Award in 2009.
