Jury Competition Fiction

The Competition Fiction comprises first and second European feature fiction films produrced for theatricl release. During the awards ceremony the Jury Competition Fiction gave out the award to the director of the prize-winning film. More information about the festival awards here.

Helene Christanell (IT)

Helene Christanell studied mathematics and worked in education. Out of her passion for movies and cinema, she assumed management of Filmtreff Kaltern. Since 2005 she has worked at the Film Festival Bozen, heading it since 2015. From 2015 to 2011 she was a member of the administrative board of the Trento Film Festival, and since 2019 has been on the panel of experts at the IDM Film Fund. Christanell has been a jury member at numerous film festivals.

Ágnes Kocsis (HU)

Ágnes Kocsis was born in Budapest. She majored in Polish language and literature, aesthetics, and film theory at Eötvös Lóránd University, then received a degree in film directing from the Academy of Drama and Film in Budapest. All her films have been shown at Crossing Europe, including her latest, Éden.


Visar Morina (DE/XK)

Visar Morina was born in Kosovo and studied at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne. His much-acclaimed debut, BABAI, received multiple awards, including Best Director and the Europa Cinemas Label at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival and Best Script at Filmfest München. EXILE is his second feature. The script was honored with a Lola in Gold for Best Unfilmed Screenplay.

Jury Competition Documentary

This award is given out to one of the documentary films from the section Competition Documentary with a minimum length of 60 minutes which has socio-political/social relevance, is an Austrian premiere and was produced in 2020/21. The award goes to the director of the prize-winning film. More information about the festival awards here.

Christa Auderlitzky (AT)

Christa Auderlitzky is a film professional based in Vienna. After her studies (theater, film and media studies) she worked as a programmer for an arthouse cinema and for a national distributor in Vienna and later as artistic director of the Austrian Film Gallery. In 2010 she founded filmdelights, a world sales agency and national distributor focused on creative documentaries and fiction films. For several years she taught at the Department of Theatre, Film and Media Studies of the University of Vienna.

Varja Močnik (SI)

Varja Močnik completed film and TV directing studies at AGRFT, Slovenia. She has worked as a TV director, directed several films, writes about film, lectures film history at the University of Nova Gorica, and cooperates with the Slovenian Cinematheque as a film curator. She has worked for the International Film Festival Kino Otok – Isola Cinema since its beginnings and has been its film program selector for the last years.

Siegfried Ressel (DE)

Born in Potsdam, GDR, 1958 and raised in the shadow of Film University Babelsberg. School, various jobs and training, years at the Meteorological Service. Then West Berlin. Radio journalist at s-f-beat. 1990 to 2011. Co-owner of a “Literaturladen” (literature shop). Followed by independent film production, continuous documentary film work, usually with Arte and 3sat as co-producers. His currrent Film SLOWLY HERE BELOW. FOUR MONOLOGUES is part of this year's European Panorama Documentary program.

Jury Competition Local Artists

All the films/videos presented in the program section Local Artists participate in the competition. An expert jury awards the prizes to the director of the prize-winning film. More information about the festival awards here.

Laurien Bachmann (AT)

Laurien Bachman lives and works in Linz as a visual artist. In her works, she uses film, photography and installation to deal with the perception of public spaces and rural topographies, among other things. She usually stages her observations in the form of still and moving images, often shifting at the divide between fiction and reality. In 2021, she created the Crossing Europe Festival Trailer GRÜN IN.

Dinko Draganovic (AT)

Dinko Draganovic was born in former Yugoslavia in the late eighties. Four years later, Austria became his new home. After graduating from the University of Arts Linz, he made numerous short films, music videos, and commercials as both a writer and director. His film ROYAL BLUE (CE’19) was shown at various film festivals and won several international awards. Dinko is currently working on his feature film debut. In addition, he teaches at the university.
Alenka Maly (AT)

Alenka Maly is a filmmaker, actress and visual artist. Following her acting studies, she had permanent engagements at theaters in Austria and Switzerland for ten years, after which she studied film and video at the University of Arts Linz. Since then, she has been working interdisciplinarily as a director, actress, concept artist focusing on social realities, and editor.

YAAAS! Jugendjury

The YAAAS! Youth Jury awards the prize to the director of one of the six YAAAS! Competition titles. More information about the festival awards here.
