YAAAS! Youth Program 2020

Covid-19-Update: In March 2020 the 17th edition of Crossing Europe Film Festival Linz had to be canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. For documentation purposes the program planned for 2020 is published HERE. With "Crossing Europe 2020 - EXTRACTS", Crossing Europe is presenting a multi-part alternative program from April to December 2020 with an online program and a series of physical events in the cinema. 

As part of „EXTRACTS: Festivalpremieren im City-Kino“ and „Crossing Europe EXTRACTS goes …“ selected titles of this section from the program of the canceled festival edition will be screened. Details HERE.

YAAAS! What is it?

YAAAS! is the name of the name of the youth program of the Crossing Europe Film Festival in Linz. YAAAS! invites you to take a whiff of the festival air together with other youths.

YAAAS! School Screenings

The YAAAS! Young Programmers selected six European feature length fiction films, which will part of the YAAAS! Competition. Three of these films will be shown in special school screenings (April 21 & 22, 23).

YAAAS! Workshop Rally

At the YAAAS! Workshop Rally you have the chance to immerse yourself in various fields (e.g. camera, animation, sound, directing) over the course of one day.

Taking place for the first time this year, the YAAAS! Competition is the fourth competition section, in which the winner of the CROSSING EUROPE Award – Youth Jury, endowed with 3000€ is selected.

YAAAS! Close-Up

In cooperation with YOUKI International Youth Media Festival we invite two young filmmakers to show their debut videos in comparison with current works and to discuss all aspects of their work in the field of film in an open discussion format.

At YAAAS! Face2Face you will be able to meet international professionals in small groups and riddle them with questions.

YAAAS! Video Project

The Video Project opens up the world of film and video production in a practical module over multiple days and offers the possibility to create your very own contributions to a specfic predetermined topic in groups of six to eight youths.

These five youths will watch the six selected films for the YAAAS! Competition and will select the winner of the CROSSING EUROPE AWARD – YAAAS! Youth Jury (€ 3.000,-).
